They are employed by clothing and textile manufacturers, tanneries and other manufacturers of fabric products.

Supervisors in this unit group perform some or all of the following duties:
  • Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of workers who cut or stitch fabric, fur or leather garments and other products in the manufacturing process
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other units
  • Requisition materials and supplies
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hirings and promotions
  • Prepare production and other reports.

  • SWN Resources Canada will undertake a seismic exploration program in Kent County this summer as part of their shale gas exploration program. The work is expected to take approximately 3 months to complete.

Week of May 20 – May 24, 2013

  • Kent Homes, a Bouctouche-based company that builds modular homes and commercial modular space, has a contract to build 100 dorm rooms and employee entertainment complexes for the Manitoba Hydro Bipole lll Converter Station near Gillam, Man.   • The municipal council of Cap-Pelé has announced a project of $350,000 to repair sidewalks within the village. Monarch Construction has been chosen to do the repairs which are to begin soon and be completed before the summer season.

Week of May 13 – May 17, 2013

  • The federal government has contributed $80,000 to the Atelier Tournesol of Edmundston in support of a pilot project helping special needs persons through a 6-month employment training and skills development program. Eight participants will complete the program in June.
  • Developers plan to build a 130-unit residential care facility along John Street in Moncton in a long-abandoned section of the former CFB Moncton following approval. The complex is part of a three-phase development that would eventually offer various housing options for seniors.
  • Apex Industries Inc. of Moncton has received over $2M in provincial and federal funding for the purchase of new equipment. The equipment will help improve the company's competitiveness in the aerospace and defense sector. The provincial government is investing $750,000 in the project, while the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is offering a repayable contribution of $1,512,500.
